ROAD TO KOREA CUP: EUNPA SARANG LANDS UPSET WIN IN KOREAN DERBY

The Korean Derby has already produced one Korea Cup winner as Winner's Man, who won the three-year-old Classic in 2021, went on to land the biggest prize in Korean racing in 2022. This year's Derby was run at Seoul Racecourse on Sunday May 12th and the honors went to EUNPA SARANG who defied long odds, to come from well off the pace and take a comfortable victory. WORLD DRAGON was 2nd, while SUCCESS BAEKPA, the winner of the first jewel of the Triple Crown, the KRA Cup Mile at Busan in April, was 3rd. 

Eunpa Sarang is owned by Lee Mi-gyeong, trained by Seo In-seok and was ridden by Moon Sung-hyeok, who was riding his first ever Group race winner.

The final leg of the 2024 Korean Triple Crown, which is restricted to Korean-bred colts and fillies, is the Minister's Cup (2000M KOR-G2) at Seoul Racecourse on Sunday June 16th.
