DIKTAEAN emulated London Town and Crown Pride and became the third horse to win two consecutive Korea Cups when winning the 2026 event at Seoul Racecourse on Sunday September 6, and it was much more emphatic than his triumph a year ago.

Another Japan-trained horse, SUNDAY FUNDAY was sent off the favourite and after local hope Clean One was badly, it was he who set a strong pace throughout. That, however, set the race up for Diktaean, who under jockey Takayuki Yano, relentlessly reeled in his compatriot in the home straight before going past and on to win by six-lengths.

Diktaean is an eight-year-old gelding by King Kamehameha and out of Medeia (by King Halo). He is owned by G1 Racing and trained by Katsunori Arayama. After winning the Korea Cup a year ago, he went on to win the G1 Tokyo Daishoten at Oi in December and may wel be aimed at a repeat although he does also now hold a "Win & You're In" spot to the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Keeneland.
